WOLE ADEDOYIN DECLARES INTEREST TO CONTEST ANA’S NATIONAL ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY’S POSITION




 

Wole Adedoyin, the author of three published poetry anthologies, “Whispers of Existence: Poetry on Life’s Journey” (ISBN: 978-978-59871-7-1), “Echoes of Being: Reflections on Life’s Tapestry” (ISBN: 978-978-59871-8-8), and “Soul’s Canvas: Poetic Meditations on Life’s Essence” (ISBN: 978-978-59871-9-5), has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Assistant General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA). His passion for literature and commitment to the advancement of African writing drive his aspiration to serve in this national capacity. According to him, the role will provide a greater platform to contribute to the growth, unity, and development of the association and its members.

Adedoyin’s involvement with the Association of Nigerian Authors has been long and active. He began his service as the State Auditor of ANA Oyo from 2006 to 2008, where he displayed accountability and diligence. From 2008 to 2010, he served as the State Public Relations Officer (PRO), effectively promoting the image and activities of the association within and outside Oyo State. His dedication to literary development and organizational excellence was clearly visible during these formative years.

On the national level, Adedoyin has contributed immensely to the advancement of young writers and the protection of authors’ rights. Between 2011 and 2015, he served as National Secretary of the National Teen Authorship Scheme Committee, where he supported young and emerging authors across Nigeria. From 2016 to 2019, he also worked with the Young Writers Mentorship Scheme Committee, helping to nurture creative writing talents and guide aspiring authors toward excellence.

In 2018, Adedoyin joined the Intellectual Property Protection and Advancement Committee, where he worked to safeguard the rights and creative works of Nigerian authors. His efforts focused on creating awareness about copyright laws and advocating for policies that protect literary ownership. These roles reflect his consistent commitment to the welfare and professional advancement of writers within ANA.

Adedoyin’s leadership journey attained a significant milestone when he served as the National Publicity Secretary (South) of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) from 2017 to 2021. In this role, he played a pivotal part in strengthening ANA’s public image and improving its communication networks with members and the general public. From 2021 to 2023, he furthered his service as Chairman of the Publicity Committee, where he continued his mission of promoting ANA’s achievements and initiatives across diverse media platforms. In 2025, his dedication to literary development earned him an appointment as a member of the Ken Saro-Wiwa International Writers Residency.

Throughout his career, Adedoyin has received several literary awards in recognition of his contributions to literature. In 2005, he received the Oyo State Merit Award in Literary Arts from the then Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala. He also won the Olaudah Equiano Poetry and Prose Prize in 2006, the ANA Oyo/Asiedu Sarpong Prize for Children Poetry, and the ANA Oyo/Vincent Iguanre Drama Prize in 2008. In 2020, he earned the Opera News Original Articles of the Week Prize twice, as well as the Original Long Read Articles of the Month Prize. His excellence has also been recognized with nominations for The Future Awards Africa Prize for Education in 2017 and 2018, an award endowed by the University of Sussex.

TRANSPARENT DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING

Work with the Membership Committee to update, verify, and digitize the national membership register, ensuring accurate data management and access.

Develop a permanent digital archive of ANA’s history, reports, and literary activities for easy retrieval and preservation of institutional memory.

 

SUPPORT FOR LITERARY PROGRAM COORDINATION

 

Collaborate with relevant officers to ensure timely dissemination of information and administrative support for ANA literary projects, awards, and festivals.

 

PROMOTION OF TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION

 

Encourage a spirit of unity, efficiency, and cooperation among all secretariat staff and officers for better service delivery and organizational harmony.

Leverage technology and modern administrative practices to make the ANA Secretariat a model of efficiency, accountability, and progress within Nigeria’s literary community.
